FOURTEEN booths under the Ministry of Development (MoD) yesterday were decorated by using recycled-materials in conjunction with its Raya celebration themed "Green Environment."
"Green Environment" is chosen first as it matches the Hari Raya atmosphere with the hopes that it will bring up the importance of green environmental mindset .
The Minister of Development, Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman said he was impressed by the hard-work with the concept of "Green-environment" and hopes to see more in the future.
Decoration concepts for the booths were based on green environment by the ministry's officers from different department who thought of using recycle materials such as used water bottles, boxes and bamboo sticks that were harvested from the nearby jungle.
The booths' tents were first set-up on Tuesday and completely decorated a day before the event was held. Over 1000 staff under different MoD departments attended the event and enjoyed themselves with variety of traditional foods served in different booths.
Apart from the entertainments such as singing performance, lucky draws and trivia challenge were part of the programme too.
"Green ribbon hanging on the booth's ceilling as it is the idea of "Ketupat" as it's Raya traditional food plus it matches our theme," said Pengiran Nurqamarina from the Drainage and Sewerage department.
"Every staff in Land Transport Department played different roles in contributing efforts to the success of this event; some re-used the light bulbs that had been stored for few years and some of us took the responsibility to serve variety of fried noodles," Hjh Siti Hani Hj Jambo from the Land Transport Department said.
The most beautifully decorated booth was won by the Department of Development which was judged by the spouses of the special guests.
