LEAVE applications will be as easy as a touch on mobile screens as a mobile application for civil servants is currently being developed.
This was announced by the Department of Civil Service (JPA) and BAG Networks, at the briefing of the third phase of the Government Employee Management System (GEMS) on Data Verification. The event was held at the Ministry of Communications (MinComm) for the ministry staff as well as those from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Ministry of Defence yesterday.
More information about the GEMS mobile application could not yet be disclosed as the application is still "under construction", according to personnel officer from JPA, Dk Amie Wardina Pg Hj Yusof, .
The GEMS mobile application, developed by BAG Networks, will be used solely for leave application, said Dk Farhana Pg Pura, a representative of BAG Networks. The date of the launching of the mobile application is still unconfirmed, but she assured, it will be "soon".
During the briefing, the participants were shown how the mobile application works.
With a simple sign-in into the GEMS system on their mobile phones, users can fill in their leave application to be sent to their superiors for approval. The application also shows the status of their leave application and the number of days they are eligible to take leave.
The application will be made available on both Android Playstore or Apple Appstore, she added.
First introduced in September 16, 2009, the GEMS aims to improve the performance of human resources, planning and management of organisation, succession planning, and overall, benefit the human resource administration of His Majesty's government.
Yesterday saw the start of the third phase into the GEMS, which is the data verification project. The data verification process will end on October 11.
According to a press release from JPA, the Data Verification project is an initiative to strengthen and improve the system capacity and effectiveness that is to be used by consumers, as well as to promote the convenience and increased efficiency in the use of GEMS.
The project will ensure all information of government employees will be constantly kept up-to-date, the press release stated. This will also ease the process of application of privileges for civil servants such a car loans, or travelling allowances.
