HIS Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam joined his Muslim subjects at the Sultan Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Mosque yesterday evening to bless the 29th National Day celebration today.
Accompanying the monarch were His Royal Highness Prince Hj Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office; and Their Royal Highnesses Prince Haji 'Abdul 'Azim, Prince 'Abdul Malik, Prince 'Abdul Mateen and Prince 'Abdul Wakeel.
The event commenced with the Maghrib prayer, led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Salim Hj Besar, who also led the Sunat Hajat prayer in seeking blessings from Allah (SWT) for the nation and its people. The recital of Surah Yassin was led by Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Setia Raja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Hj Suhaili Hj Mohiddin, while the Doa Kesyukuran was read by State Mufti Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz Juned.
Before concluding the ceremony, the congregation performed the Isya' prayer, led by Pehin Dato Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Hj Abdul Hamid Bakal.
Among those who attended the ceremony were the nation's statesmen, ministers, deputy ministers and senior government officials, as well as the public.
Upon leaving the mosque, the congregation took the opportunity to greet His Majesty and other members of the royal family. Similar thanksgiving ceremonies and prayers were held in mosques in all four districts.
Today marks the Sultanate's 29th National Day. As has been the tradition, a celebration will be held at the Taman Hj Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien today. The Brunei Times
