AK Khairil Sapyri Pg Hj Hassan was declared the winner of the Best Photography Award, out of over 2,300 entries, for the Photographic Competition 2008 yesterday in conjunction with His Majesty's 62nd birthday celebration .

WINNERS of the Photographic Competition 2008 held in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 62nd birthday celebrations will be determined this Saturday, when the final judging takes place at the first floor of The Mall in Gadong.

The last round of judging will decide the top three winners for the four themes in the competition: Celebrations, Cultural Heritage, People and Environment.

THE second round of selection for the Photographic Competition held in conjunction with His Majesty's 62nd birthday has been completed, with 20 pictures chosen from the four themes each.

The 20 selected pictures from each theme were the result of shortlisted entries from the first round of selection, which saw the selection of 195 entries for the Celebrations theme, 148 entries on People, 172 entries on Cultural Heritage, and 102 entries on the Environment.

THE first round of selection for the Photographic Competition held in conjunction with His Majesty's 62nd birthday has been completed, with a total of 2,409 entries narrowed down to 617 for the four themes.

After the first round of selection, 195 entries have been shortlisted for the Celebrations theme, 172 for Cultural Heritage, 148 for People, and 102 for the Environment.

MORE than 2,300 entries by national and international shutterbugs were received in the recent photography competition organised by The Brunei Times and the Information Department in conjunction with the monarch's 62nd birthday celebrations.

The overwhelming number of entries is the highest ever received for any photography competition in Brunei, according to Hj Mohd Yusof Mohd Yassin, the president of the Brunei Photographic Society and Hj Shamsuddin Idris, the president of the Brunei Darussalam Association of Photographers.

THE submission deadline for the photographic competition organised by The Brunei Times has been extended to July 31.

The new deadline was made in light of the changes in the programme for some of the events held in conjunction with His Majesty's 62nd birthday celebrations. One of the most anticipated event, the floats procession, is to be held on the evening of July 26.
