THE second round of selection for the Photographic Competition held in conjunction with His Majesty's 62nd birthday has been completed, with 20 pictures chosen from the four themes each.

The 20 selected pictures from each theme were the result of shortlisted entries from the first round of selection, which saw the selection of 195 entries for the Celebrations theme, 148 entries on People, 172 entries on Cultural Heritage, and 102 entries on the Environment.

Organisers The Brunei Times and the Information Department shortlisted the entries with the assistance of a representative each from the Brunei Photographic Society and the Brunei Darussalam Association of Photographers by using a Sony 32' LCD television.

The final round of selection has been scheduled for early September.

First prize winners for each theme will receive US$1,500, and US$1,000 and US$500 for the second and third prize winners respectively.

The Best Photography Award will go to the overall best entry to be chosen from the four first prize winners. In addition, there will be a special award for the best entry submitted by students of secondary schools and tertiary institutions.

The Photographic Competition is sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum, Sahid Sdn Bhd, TSL Construction Sdn Bhd and GHK Motors Sdn Bhd.
