UNIVERSITI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM and Zone II topped their groups yesterday in the second day of the third edition of the Ministry of Education (MoE) Netball Championship at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.

UBD collected 21 points to top Group A after winning all their matches in the eight-team group.

The Islamic Studies (Pengajian Islam) yesterday pulled out of the tournament.

The UBD team, which Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah laces up for, remained unbeaten yesterday to extend their run to seven matches.

Both UBD and Tutong were unbeaten in the first day of the tournament (on Friday) and as they faced off yesterday UBD were able to put a dent on Tutong's streak.

Tutong stumbled to a 4-11 defeat in the matchup, their only loss so far to put them in second place with 18 points with a 6-1 win-loss record.

Zone II of Group B also won all their matches yesterday to collect a total of 24 points.

Zone IV had to win against Temburong in their final match to take them into second place.

A win for Zone IV would level the points at 18, but Zone IV's had a better goal difference than Temburong.

However, they were held to an 8-8 draw against Temburong, a result which was good enough for Temburong to keep hold of second with 19 points in Group B.

The tournament resumes next Sunday. The Brunei Times.
