Chung Hwa basketball tips off today

THE wait is finally over for local basketball fans.

The Chung Hwa Middle School (CHMS) Alumni Association 18th Anniversary Basketball tournament will tip off today at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.

Both categories to be contested during the competition - Men's Open and Under-18 Boys - have received overwhelming response with 11 teams vying for top honours in the former and 14 teams challenging for the trophy in the latter.

For the Open Category, Group A are made up of Auto Expert, Liga Bumiputera, KB Shine and Strong Eagle. Group B comprise of Kenview, Soon Lee/Easyway 'A', TKT House and Hankook Komala while Ford & Cool Tones, L&H Motors and Soon Lee/Easyway 'B' will battle it out in Group C.

CHMS Bandar, Dark Temptation, LOF Bakery, Haska and SSD-Shark will compete in Group A for the Under-18 category. Group B are made up of Soon Lee/Easyway, Summerstars, Auto Experts, Aranta Sdn Bhd, Phoenix while SPE, Double Star Cont, Leca Cont and SGS are in Group C.

The format of the tournament will be played in 20 minute halves per match.

The first match will tip off at 6pm between Haska and Dark Temptation in Group A of the Under-18 category followed by Soon Lee/Easyway going up against Summerstars in Group B.

For the Open Category, Soon Lee/Easyway 'A' and Kenview will go head-to-head at 8.30pm.
