MK SYARIKAT JAZMAR rampaged through their match against Kenview Enterprise to notch a 90-49 victory in the Aewon Cup 2011 Basketball Championship Tournament last night at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.

Geve Leones scored a game high 20 points to lead MK in the win.

Wong Ha Shiong scored 14 points for the losing side, at most times initiating the attack for his team.

Both teams employed the 2-3 zone defence with the hopes of stopping the opposing shooters from getting easy looks at the basket.

The game however turned into a contest of endurance, an aspect of the game which Kenview just could not match up to their counterparts.

This was already evident in the first quarter itself with the starting five for MK outplaying Kenview convincingly with their quicker movement and a greater hustle for the ball, helping them build up a 24-13 lead by the end of the first quarter.

Wong Ha Shiong attempted to will Kenview back in the game but to no avail.

MK was just too superior in terms of size and consequently dominated the battle under the basket.

The Kenview ball handlers also fell victims to their opponents' defence, committing quick turnovers which allowed MK to go on a 10-0 scoring run.

This prompted Kenview to utilise their time-outs which, unfortunately, had no effect in altering the momentum of the game.

MK continued to run their opponents into the ground with well-timed passes that left Kenview's players grounded.

The 45-28 scoreline by half-time served as a wake-up call for Kenview who immediately stepped on the accelerator to score on two fast break attempts early in the third stanza.

Their new found energy seemed to have caught MK off guard who went cold offensively.

MK would not be held down for long though as Jonathan Actustin brought the team back to life with two consecutive three pointers.

MK would continue to struggle to defend against the more lively Kenview, committing fouls in the process.

Kenview would, however, shoot themselves in the foot with their poor performance from the charity stripe, unable to narrow their 60-43 point deficit by quarter's end.

It was the same story in the final quarter as MK proceeded to put the game away.
