Chan almost made it a double, but was second best in the National Class final. Md Rafiee Junaidi completed the National Class podium.

Another local favourite Md Jeffery Abdullah Suresh, meanwhile, was second in the Open Class final. Tang Hsu Chung, another Bruneian karter, came in third.

Hj Harith said his vast experience in the go-kart industry gave him the edge over other karters.

"Experience helps you to improve and it is imperative that you have confidence in yourself. I believe our karters have what it takes to compete on an international level," he said.

Hj Harith also disclosed plans to establish a go-kart academy and one of the instructors will be Dutch driver Nick de Bruijin, who won the European KF1 Championship karting series in 2004.The Brunei Times
