Rizfiz FT prepare to face firing squad

RIZFIZ FT face the daunting task of playing the Royal Brunei Armed Forces' Sports Council (MS ABDB) in their second round match of the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) Red Bull Championship 2012.

While the armymen may be one of the favourites to take the title this season, Rizfiz FT manager Fendi Bohari Bujang believes that his team can spring a surprise when the two teams meet on Sept 18 at the at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex in Berakas.

"It is going to be difficult. As we all know MS ABDB are one of the favourite teams to win the competition this year," Fendi Bohari told The Brunei Times recently.

"I believe that my players will be able to give a good fight in the game as they performed very well in the qualifying rounds of the tournament. Currently we train once a week and we plan to increase the days of training after the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebrations.

"We have played MS ABDB in both friendly and competitive matches in the past. We won some and lost some. They have good players, very hardworking and organised. As I said, we are ready to face any team in the second round of the tournament. So we will try our best to win the game," he added.

Rizfiz FT head into the game as the runner-up of Group D after recording nine points from four games.

They opened their campaign with a 4-3 victory over PBTM FT before losing to Kota Juniors 7-3 in their second game.

They went on to beat Brucert FC 6-2, followed by a 10-0 thrashing of Rimba Star to make it to the second round.

MS ABDB topped Group C with a record of three wins and one loss.

They started their campaign with a 4-3 win over Creativol before losing 3-2 to Pega Star.

They won their remaining matches against Silveredz FT and MBS United FT with the scoreline of 3-1 and 11-2 respectively.
