China to mark strong presence at Bridex 2009

ONE of China's leading state-owned defence enterprises, Poly Technologies Inc (PTI), has confirmed that it will be participating at the coming Brunei Darussalam International Defence Exhibition and Conference (Bridex 2009).

The second edition of Bridex, which is scheduled to be held from August 12 to 15 at the new purpose-built Exhibition and Convention Centre in Jerudong, is organised by the Royal Brunei Technical Services (RBTS), and is fully supported by the Ministry of Defence (MinDef).

This year's event will showcase cutting-edge technology and systems for the army, navy, air force as well as for security and law enforcement agencies from around the Asia Pacific region.

And some exhibitors will be displaying their equipment which could be utilised by agencies such as the National Disaster Management Centre.

PTI, a subsidiary of China Poly Group Corporation, is a defence manufacturing company with headquarters in Beijing, China. The company imports and exports defence-related equipment and systems including equipment for the army, navy and air force, missile, as well as electronic equipment, police anti-riot equipment, military logistics supplies, shotgun and industrial explosives. PTI's expertise covers the fields of indigenously-developed combat weapon systems and systematic integration of defence equipment.

For countries seeking equipment for their armies, the company markets long-range rocket and missile system, field artillery and anti-tank missile system, armoured vehicles and air defence weapon system.

Products include Types WS-1B, WS-2 and A100 long-range multiple launch rocket systems, Type PL96 122mm howitzer, HJ-8 anti-tank missile system, Type 89 tracked armoured personnel carrier, Type 96 main battle tank and Type FB-6A vehicle-mounted air defence missile system.

The company also exports merchandise for logistics supplies and civilian use which include electro-mechanics, chemicals, minerals, non-ferrous metals and solar energy products, among others.

Since its establishment in 1984, PTI has established and maintained long-term working relations with many countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.

The organiser of the event, RBTS, said that the four-day Bridex 2009 is expected to attract more than 400 delegates from over 60 countries and over 15,000 trade and public visitors. Countries such as Australia, Brazil, Bangladesh, Cambodia, France, Germany, India, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, People's Republic of China, Qatar, Laos, Indonesia, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Russia, South Korea, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Timor-Leste, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam, have been invited to send their high-level delegates to Bridex 2009, the region's premier and not-to-be-missed defence and security exhibition.

In conjunction with the exhibition, there will be two conferences — namely the 6th Asean Air Chief Conference, which is organised by the Ministry of Defence and Jane's Information Group, on August 10, and a one-day conference organised by RBTS which will be held on August 11 — a day before the official opening of Bridex 2009.
