UP TO 70 inmates at a far-north Queensland prison could have the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, Australian authorities said yesterday. A spokesman for the Lotus Glen facility said a 34-year-old prisoner had tested positive for swine flu and a further 69 were displaying flu-like symptoms.

Meanwhile Saudi Arabia has announced that 77 persons affected with flu have recovered after undergoing treatment.

The Ministry of Health's spokesman said the administration has taken all necessary precautions to meet any eventuality during the Haj season.A woman who had tested positive for swine flu died "accidentally," Chinese state media reported last Wednesday, without giving details of the cause of her death. The 34-year-old woman is the first reported death of a person known to have A(H1N1) in China.AFP
